Control System Project Manager
Permanent, Birchwood Warrington, £45,000
We’re working with a multi-national infrastructure business to recruit a control system project manager for its control system integration business in the UK.
They predominantly work with organisations that have a need for process control providing software services for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
The team in Warrington is separated into permanent project teams led by a Project Manager. The PM is responsible for the whole lifecycle of delivering projects, from quoting through to completion.
This is an ideal opportunity for a control system software engineer who is used to working the whole lifecycle of the project now looking to develop their commercial skills whilst wanting to keep a hand in software.
There isn’t an established team you’ll be going in to manage. In fact, the real opportunity here is for you to go in and build a team alongside established teams and all the infrastructure available to you.
Initially, you may even work on project-delivery yourself whilst building your team and then focusing on the management of that, along with interfacing with customers and tendering new work.
There are a team of PMs here who started out as engineers who will support the development of your commercial skills so this genuinely presents as a fantastic opportunity for experienced control system engineers who want to move into a project management / leadership role.
This will require someone who is resilient, is able to work without supervision (and even be in a position to provide this), and have outstanding software experience alongside some commercial awareness – for example the relationship between time and cost, or being able to operationally deal with factoring the possibility of contract revision – e.g. the impact on documentation, software, testing within the scope of that particular project.
This is an opportunity to develop your leadership and commercial abilities whilst retaining your software skills.
The business operates a skills-based salary scale which will reward your technical ability and development. Equal to this, they pay two bonuses each year that are entirely dependent on the health of the projects you individually work on giving each staff member a financial motivation to deliver an outstanding service to customers.
